I heard all kind of good things about him outta camp....speed and big hits and how he's punishing his own players in practice....but come game time? What's the deal?

We need a saftey that's going to strike some fear in our opponents receivers.

The question I have is this:

Is Bowen looking worse because like Champ he is covering the people under his watch better than Iffy who is getting thrown against all the time? That is a distinctly real possibility.

Keep an old coach's saying in mind: If the DBs and Safeties are not getting tackles or interceptions, most likely it is because the front seven are doing their job very well.

I like the safeties not having to tackle or intercept much. Tells me the middle of the DL is doing better than most think.

By the way Boss, did you see the runs to the left (offensive left) when you rewatched the game? Just curious. Too daggone many of em IMHO.

Aside from the god awful penalites...one other thing I noticed from the game was the lack of HARD HITTING. Both Bowen and Ohalete need to put some licks on those receivers. Alot of arm tackling going on.

Also, our CBs need to play more physical with the receivers. Need to bump on the line...or get one good shot on them before they close in on the CBs.

Bowen did have a big pick last week. Have you all forgotten so soon? I think they're throwing more at Ohalete(or as my friends call him, Omellette) because he was vulnerable last year. He's improved some this year and made some good plays. If we can keep Bruce from giving the other team 1st and 5 on every possession, we might be able to force long yardage situations and see our safeties a little more often.

I haven't forgotten the pick....that was sweet. However we need him delivering some hits on receivers, like Shockey last week. Shockey was running patterns up the seem.

I agree with you skinsfan on running plays...we don't want our secondary making the tackles...but on passing plays I want a safetey who punishes receivers and makes them think twice next time.

As much as I hate to say it the cowpukes have two.

I've been disappointed with Bowen so far.

he hasn't done anything wrong per se... but receivers aren't 'looking for him' which is what I envisioned.

Of course one good solid snot-bubble tackle has a way of changing all that, so let's hope that it's on little Kevin Faulk this week.
