Is this guy just talking smack - out the side of his mouth..??? He says Tannehil and RG3 ......are just about the same.
Just another talking head.......

The Redskins gave up their second-round choice this year and their first-round picks in 2013 and 2014 to move up. They will draft Griffin if the Colts, who have the top pick, do what most assume they will do and take Andrew Luck.
Tannehill is likely to be available when the Redskins original pick at sixth overall.
So, what do you think? Is McShay out of his mind? Or could Tanehill be as good as Griffin or have a career that is close enough to RG3’s to make the Redskins wonder why they gave up those three premium draft picks?

Tannehill has considerable upside... very athletic, excellent arm, smart.
But, he has a much steeper learning curve than either Luck or RG3. There's an excellent chance that he'll be an excellent NFL quarterback... which is why I would not have been too upset had the skins been left with him as their option... but he's also going to be quite vulnerable for a while. Don't expect him to explode on the scene this year.
The bottom line is, McShay is hyping him a excessively, for some reason... but he's not in RGIII's league, in terms of his potential. |

| He's basically RGIII light, good arm strength but not RGIII, good accuracy but not RGIII, good athleticism but not RGIII. I'd rather just have RGIII. We'd probly waste the next two first rounders on juiced up safeties anyway. |

I like what Mike Mayock has to say about draft prospects. Here's his take on Tannehill.

But I don’t think he’s ready to play Day 1. I don’t think he trusts his reads yet. He’s got a long way to go, but I think he’s got the tools necessary to be a franchise quarterback. |

| ^ Yeah... I'd go with Maylock. This is about what I was thinking. Tannehill has all of the parts... what he is lacking is experience... and a coach who knows what to do with him. |

I don't listen to McShay much. Not because he's wrong often--he is. But, more because they pair him with Mel Kiper. He and Mel obviously have no chemistry. Maybe it's because Mel is being forced to groom his eventual replacement--who knows.
But, it's obvious that they try and compete with each other which leads to them disagreeing on a player for the sake of disagreement.
On one case, Todd McShay disagreed with Mel Kiper that the Lions should have drafted Matt Stafford. McShay said he thought Aaron Curry was the best player in that draft. Epic Fail. |

What troubled me about Tannehill back when it looked like we might take him at #6 (or at least there was discussion of it) was that I didn't know how we'd get from where we are to whenever he'd be ready. The upside seems really good on him, but there just a hell of a lot of uncertainty that he gets to it.
Again, the comparison to RG3 is a good one here. His upside also seems huge, but you can kind of see already how he's gonna get there. |
