Barring injury, I don't see how it's even possible that any of our current QBs would outplay him in training camp and preseason. If RGIII shows even some promise at the position, he'll start from day one.

Given RG3's obvious intelligence, his humble attitude, his strong work ethic AND his competitiveness, the only reason he wouldn't be starting day one, would be because the OC has failed miserably in the process to get him ready.

Given the status of the position, RG3 NEEDS to be the starter ... which is different than "has to be".

But no other excuses are valid or reasonable ...

O-LINE - RG3 immediately makes the o-line better because of his ability to extend plays with his athleticism

NFL SPEED .. the NFL will need more time to prepare for RG3's speed, than he needs to adjust to the speed of the NFL.

WHEN MIKE THINKS HE IS READY - Mike will think he's ready day one because he knows that rookie QB's need to be on the field to work through those rookie mistakes ... it's the only way they can learn, aside from an extended amount of time in a backup role, usually reserved for project type QBs. This is not a "project" QB .... this is a high talent franchise level QB that needs to be playing through those growing pains, and the pressure will be on to get him playing at the highest level as quickly as possible.

No matter whether he starts game 1 or game 8, he's still got to work through those growing pains as a rookie, so there is no reason to delay the process by having him sit. If he doesn't have full command of the entire playbook by opening day, you put him out there with the portion he's comfortable with, and add to it, week to week.

You don't buy a Ferrari just so you can carry on driving your old Ford Focus at the weekends...

Shame on you

Modifying my response... "Yes". There are no vets worthy of functioning as models for him in a live game. He will learn more quickly by making his own mistakes. This kid is not so fragile that a few mental errors or sacks are going to mess up his mind.

HaiL,

1: They play the Saints.
2: The only move the Cowboys could have made that would have concerned me regarding their preparation for Griffin would have been Michael Barron. Oops...
3: The Beagles will have improved line play. It won't help.
