Kiper has the Skins taking the following players:
1(21) Phillip Merling
2(51) Chilo Rachal (Guard, USC)
3(84) Tyvon Branch (CB, UConn)
3(96) Josh Morgan (WR, Va Tech)
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft08/insider/columns/story?columnist=kiper_jr_mel&page=kipermock080415
McShay has the Skins taking:
1(21) Phillip Merling
2(51) Kenny Phillips (Safety, The U)
3(84) Earl Bennett (WR, Vanderbilt)
3(96) Steven Justice (C, Wake Forest)
Can't say that I'd be happy if either one of these proves to be accurate, especially when it comes to the wide receivers they have us taking. Bennett is 5'11 so he isn't what we're looking for and Josh Morgan simply isn't all that good and the 3rd round is a major reach (McShay doesn't even have him going in the first 4 rounds). Justice with the comp pick would be a very solid pick imo. |

Both these guys are on drugs.
The Redskins will take Quintin Demps before most of the players named.
And there is no way in hell Kenny Phillips makes it to #51. |

If Merling is available at 21, we will probably grab him. I haven't seen either of those WR's high on anybody's list. Phillips won't be available at 51. Must be nice to have jobs where you get paid for being wrong all the time. |

McShay has updated his draft to include all 7 rounds. This is what he has for us....
1(21) Phillip Merling
2(51) Kenny Phillips (Safety, The U)
3(84) Earl Bennett (WR, Vanderbilt)
3(96) Steven Justice (C, Wake Forest)
5(154) Frank Okam (DT, Texas)
6(186) Jack Ikegwuonu (CB, Wisconsin)
7(228) Justin Tyron (CB, ASU)
7(242) Derek Fine (TE, Kansas)
7(249) Art Carmody (K, Louisville)
Personally, I think that McShay has no idea what he's talking about. No way that Earl Bennett is the only receiver that we take and I expect us to take more than just one defensive lineman and one offensive lineman. Also, the Skins have already said that they are planning on taking a qb with a late round pick and McShay totally ignores that. |

If that is our draft I will be quite happy.
Merling = beast
Phillips = solid
Bennett = solid
Justice = solid
Okam = potential beast
Ikegwuonu = solid
Carmody = better than Suisham
haven't heard of the other two though |

Bennett is 5'11. He doesn't help our wide receiver problem at all.
Seriously?? He's a good player but he has MAJOR health questions and character issues. He tore his ACL and partially tore his MCL in January (his status for the 08 season is uncertain) and he is awaiting trial for residential burglary and criminal trespass, for allegedly breaking into an apartment and stealing an Xbox.

Okam is similar to Montgomery. He is very good against the run but does next to nothing against the pass. He isn't the type of lineman that we need.
I agree with you that Justice is solid and I would be happy if we got him. But taking one offensive lineman simply isn't enough. Our entire line is over 30 years old and we need to add some youth/depth in this draft. |

Quick quiz: WR (and former 1st rounder) Mike Williams is 6'5". WR Wes Welker is 5'9". Who's had a better career (and helped his team more) so far? |

On a side note, how freaking stupid do you have to be?
Seriously, I mean if you know you're good enough to be drafted in the NFL, why the heck would you make the decision to commit a felony in order to steal a $300 game system, especially in this current "good citizen" era of the NFL?
I mean it's not as if you can depend upon the Bengals taking you anymore... |

One $300 dollar game system = potential millions lost in the long run. The guy must have a high time preference. |

Wes Welker is also a slot receiver, which we don't need. In addition to that, let's pull the BEST slot receiver of '07 out to make a comparison with...... |

He has us taking 2 DL's, Merling & Okum, but I doubt Okum will be there in the 5th round. We don't need a K, we are more likely to draft a P & as you said a QB late than a 2nd CB. |

Obviously Welker. But this team doesn't need another vertically challenged receiver. We need a bigger receiver that can go across the middle and be a threat in the red zone. Moss and ARE aren't much help neat the goal line so we need another receiver that can catch some td's when Cooely is being double teamed. I'm not saying that Bennett wont be a good NFL receiver, but he isn't a good fit for our offense. |

The Redskins must not be as impressed with Anthony Mix and Billy McMullen as we would have hoped. One would think those twin towers would be good red zone options. |
