The Chicago Bears released veteran wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad on Monday, NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting.
Muhammed finished the 2007 season, his third with the Bears and 12th in the NFL, with 40 catches for 570 yards and three touchdowns. He played his first nine years with the Carolina Panthers.
The Bears also signed defensive end Alex Brown to a two-year contract extension on Monday. Brown had two years left on his existing contract.

| You were scooped by two hours and they locked my thread! Anyway, I still say the Skins should pass on both Muhammed and Darwin Walker. Old & injured. |

My bad! You are correct. I was looking at the date & time stamp of the last post (Posted: Tue Feb 19, 2008 12:09 am), not of your original post.
I stand corrected.
I still say the Skins should pass on considering either one of them. |

Muhammad is drawing interest from the Redskins, Panthers and 49ers, according to John Clayton.

Posted by Michael David Smith on February 24, 2008, 1:20 p.m.
A league source tells PFT that the Carolina Panthers are close to an agreement with wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad, who became an unrestricted free agent when the Bears released him last week.
According to the source, the deal would pay Muhammad $1.5 million a year.
The 34-year-old Muhammad started his career with the Panthers and played nine seasons in Carolina before leaving for Chicago after the 2004 season. He had some solid seasons as a Panther, leading the league with 102 catches in 2000 and leading the league with 1,405 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns in 2004. He never came close to that level of production in Chicago.
In Carolina, he’s expected to compete with Dwayne Jarrett for the No. 2 receiver spot across the field from Steve Smith. |

I always get a good laugh when teams pick up someone they previously had before.
I'm glad our Skins never ever ever do that kind of stuff....
