Is Cooley completely finished?

Postby burgngold4life » Mon Apr 01, 2013 2:16 am

Just wondering if he'd be worth giving one last chance at being a utility back/hybrid blocker type dude, seeing as how he has familiarity w/ our offensive system & gameplan.

I have always loved Cooley, & he'll pretty much play for 100 bucks a game.

Hurts seeing his skills dwindle down to next to nothing.

What are ur honest thoughts on him, even in the NFL in general?

I would love to see Cooley back over Niles Paul.. I get that they are at different points in their careers with Cooley clearly on the back end and likely not able to contribute on special teams ( which clearly shows why he will most likely NOT be back ) BUT...

I just dont get what they see in Paul.. I dont see the value in him and from a fans view point would love to see Cooley back for one more year

I don't think any of us truly know. Some will have supiscions or gut feelings... I say it's one or two things going on with Chris Cooley. He's either A. Fallen off, or B. His body is failing him and he's simply not the best player anywhere on the depth chart.

Mike Plays the best player at the position and Cooley isn't that player anymore. He's our 3rd best option at the TE position.

Yes, I think it's a sad reflection on Cooley's diminished abilities/physical condition that the Redskins seem to think that Niles Paul represents an improvement over him. I have my doubts that Paul himself will be around for very long though.

It happens to every player at some time in their career. We wasted his best years...

I find it hard to believe that Cooley has nothing left IF healthy.. I imagine he is pretty healthy all things considered.. but of course I am not him and or a team doctor to determine that.. I think I just wear Cooley tinted shades as he was and will always be one of my favorite Redskins so I would love to see him end his career on top playing like one of the best TE in football but I also understand that is not the case sadly

Cooley fan here - the reality is that, as some have pointed out, the players that give the coaches the best group on the field will get the call ..

it's time to look at all he's done DESPITE not being surrounded with players that gave the offense the best chance for success

THANKS Chris Cooley - it was fun

RG3 will benefit from having a full off season to prepare and a better 'fit' at both HC and OC

I think Cooley waits around this year again in case we get a season-ending injury to a TE. But other than that, I'd expect he's done. I'd be surprised if he's even in training camp.

I think we should keep him as utility at this point.. he can still prolly show us a little magic here & there. I think the biggest knock on him now is he's just TOO slow at this point.

We all know speed was never Cooley's forte.. but his hands & football IQ are well above average, + he can block, & he's hard to bring down... not to mention what he brings to the locker room.

I'd like to see him in the backfield causing confusion from time to time, & getting open for some first downs. Then we can all hear the COOOOOOOLEEY again. :)

That's my dude, I just wish we could give him ANY kind of opportunity.

My only concern is using that roster spot if we have more pressing needs. Honestly I can't see him NOT available during the season if we need him.

To those who think CC has something left in the tank... keeping in mind that I am a huge fan...

Did none of you watch him run last year? The man was horribly hobbled... he has a serious hitch in his giddyup... it was apparent even when walking. I was broken-hearted watching him. He has nothing left to give.

This is one of those times that I'd be delighted to be wrong... but I just don't see it.

NFL Network !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would HE not put himself in a position to start a SECOND sports career.

Thanks, Chris. Be smart, move on. You are good and smart on TV.
