| Damn..this was supposed to be the line that rekindled the memories of Hogs past. But so far, the only thing they have done well is allow opposing defenses free shots at Ramsey. I havent figured it out yet but I have to wonder what in the hell Kim Helton is doing with these boys. Its killing me to watch this line play like this...I cant imagine what Ramsey feels like on Mondays. |

I think Thomas is playing well.
I think other than false starts JJ is playing well.
I think Fiore was playing well before getting hurt.
I think Dockery has looked really green spelling Fiore.
I think Moore has shown little progress.
And my man Samuels has just plain been bad.
I'm just not convinced that it doesn't matter how good ANY of them are playing as long as there's 5 of them trying to block 7 guys. |

| At least Samuels won't be holding us up for huge money (is it next season?)....seeing as how he'll surely miss the ProBowl this year. |

| On the Samuels front, after the Bucs game, I told him that no matter how many penalties he ever gets, he will still be my favorite player and I will always wear his jeresy on gamedays. He had a huge smile on his face after I told him that. |

you know, the line isn't playing terrible. you gotta expect dockery to be a little shaky. samuels hasn't been himself latley, and i agree the false starts and dicsipline looks bad, but i think all and all, the coaching is where the breakdowns are at. after watching some of the games over, especially the last 2, man the protections were a bleeping joke. spurrier needs to stop playin in his madden 2004 fantasy world and respect nfl defenses for what they are. he's so used to over powering college D's that he's never had to win games the way he has to now. i despise the rams, and mike martz for that matter, but the guy adjusted after a rough start. no warner, no faulk, but they are getting better. monday night against atl martz called a lot of 2 receiver, and max protect sets, which stoped the blitzes outright. he put the workload on his two good receivers, holt and bruce, to get open. and boy did they, and with all the time in the world in a nice comfy pocket, bulger picked that atl secondary apart. coles and gardner are good enough to do the same. spurrier has said he wasn't brought here to run the ball, he thinks he was brought in for his offense, blah, blah blah. maybe, but you are running the ball now, and you will respect these defenses for what they are even if that means throwing your college playbook out the window. because, in the end , what really matters is that maybe you were brought in for some of those offensive fireworks, but MOST importantly you were brought in to WIN GAMES. that is the head coach's job plain and simple ...win games, dosen't have to be pretty, just WIN, whether it be by 30 points or 1 point. now i'm not sayin that i'm not happy with where we sit right now, but it should be better. i think spurrier is changing.....slowly. there's nothing wrong with an attack first approach, i'm all for it. but when you can't beat a blitz, then try to at least protect for it. the o-line hasn't been stellar, but thats a small portion of the problem. coach gotta recognize y'all......
ok i'm done with the spurrier bashing now, had to get it off my chest. |

.... what a good post.
There's a lot of great points in there IMO, and I don't think it was bashing as much as solid observartion.
Now if you can just get SOS to come on the board and read it |

I know Chris knows that he has to pick it up, so I don't want to tell him the obvious. He will improve gradually as the season goes on. He didn't have any penalties last week. So that's a start. |

SS hasn't heard you. After this game I don't know who will be done sooner - P-Ram (getting pummeled) or SS (getting run out of town).
Great post by the way. |
